U.S. House to Vote on Legislation to Stop EPA’s Expansion of the Clean Water Act

This Tuesday, September 9, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on H.R. 5078, the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protection Act.

Introduced by Rep. Steve Southerland (R-Fla.), H.R. 5078 will prevent the EPA from regulating ditches, mudflats, prairie potholes and other water features under the Clean Water Act (CWA), as a proposed rule would allow.

Should the CWA be expanded in this manner, property owners and developers would face a dramatic increase in the cost and time needed to obtain a federal wetlands permit, and the economic growth across the nation would be dealt a significant setback.
