This Two for Tuesday “PLUS” is worth reading!


1. The Epic List

Our goal is to educate you about relevant issues and give you access to important information.  There were so many vital topics to cover this week we decided to do “Two for Tuesday PLUS.”  We’ll point them out and you can decide which ones are important to you.  Here’s our list of things YOU should know:

  • Building Charlotte Together – Charlotte City Council Member James Mitchell is holding a Town Hall Meeting on March 9th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Camp North End, 1801 Graham Street, Suite 200, Charlotte 28206.  Topics include Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Implementation and Community Area Planning.  Please RSVP to Jocella Palmer at [email protected] by March 6th.
  • Ever wanted a chance to tell the government how they should be spending your money? – Mecklenburg County is requesting your input on spending priorities for its Fiscal Year 2024 Budget.  Here’s a link to the 2-minute survey.
  • Sticker shock anyone? – Iredell County residents recently received notices detailing the newly assessed value of their homes.  In the last four years since the last revaluation, residential values grew by about 60% and commercial by about 40%.  Here are some details from our friends at the Iredell Economic Development Corporation and a column from the Lake Norman Citizen.
  • Charlotte Development Center Process Changes Announced – Please review as your projects may be impacted: (1) The CLT Development Center will be temporarily suspending the Pre-submittal and Urban Conceptual Meeting programs.  (2) Effective June 1st, the Expedited and Enhanced programs will be temporarily suspended.  (3) Targeted Sketch Plan Reviews will be suspended.  For additional information, please contact Nan Peterson, Business Relationship Manager, Planning at [email protected] or (980)264-9580.
  • Charlotte Area Planning Workshop Dates Scheduled – Sign up to attend one or more Community Area Planning sessions here.  For additional details click this link.
  • Mooresville Takes a Step Backward – In a move that will be sure to limit housing choices and perhaps future community amenities, the Mooresville Town Board is pausing the approval of high-density residential projects.  Read more about it here.
  • Gaston County Transportation Equity Strategy Team Meets, Plans Future Program – The group will hold an Interactive Race Equity Training program on February 28th (deadline to enroll is February 24th).  You can find details here.
  • City of Concord Proposing Changes to Development Ordinance – You have until March 3rd to comment on proposed amendments to the Concord Development Ordinance addressing the development of tiny and cottage homes.  Click this link and scroll to the bottom of the page for more details and to provide your comments.
  • Charlotte Land Development Standards Manual (CLDSM) Revision No. 23 – The CLDSM Committee is making several revisions to the manual, and you can view the draft here.  Feedback and comments must be provided via email to [email protected] by March 24th.
