David McGuire, a Charlotte native, is the Chief Operating Officer for the Roby Family of Companies. This includes Andrew Roby, Roby Commercial, Roby Services and Roby Realty, which serves clients across the Carolinas through offices in Charlotte, Boone, and Asheville, NC. He is also an Executive Committee member of REBIC, the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition.
His career with the Roby Family of Companies began during his senior year of high school and freshman year of college. He worked summers and holidays as a laborer doing jobsite demos and cleanup, carrying brick, mixing mortar, digging ditches and more. He then graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management & Society. David is a Management Training Graduate of Sandler Sales Institute. After more than seven years of working in sales and management at Ferguson Enterprises, David joined the Roby Family of Companies in July 2008.
David is a past president of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) of Greater Charlotte, and served as a board member from 2016-2022. He was honored with the Hope Award at the organization’s 2018 Contractor of the Year (COTY) Awards and the President’s Award in 2021. He is a past president of the Charlotte Providence Rotary Club, where in 2014 he was honored with the title of Distinguished Rotarian. Currently, David serves on the board as a Builder Director of the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Charlotte.
From a personal standpoint, he volunteers as a baseball coach for South Park Youth Association and is an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. In 2013, David was named one of the Charlotte Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” young professionals.”
When asked to share his advice about how to successfully grow your contracting business, David shares, “Get involved. Stay active in your industry and community, but most importantly, live and work by the “Golden Rule.”
