Huntersville Approves Proposal to Shorten Plan Review Times

Developers in the Town of Huntersville will soon see faster turnaround times for Preliminary Plans and Final Plats, after the Board of Commissioners approved a staff proposal this week to improve the development review process. The new turnaround times are as follows:

    Subdivision Preliminary Plans: First review shortened from 30 working days to 20 working days; Subsequent reviews shortened from 20 working days to 15 working days each.Final Plats: Shortened from 30 working days for a first review and 20 working days for subsequent reviews to 15 working days for all reviews.Stormwater Concept Plans: First review shortened from 30 working days to 20 working days;

Review times for Sketch Plats will actually increase under the approved amendments, from 10 working days to 15 working days.But because this additional review time is already built into the town’s Submission Schedule, developers will not see any delay in the approval process.

Huntersville Senior Planner Whitney Hodges said the changes were made to better align the town’s review process with that of Mecklenburg County, which handles its development permitting. REBIC supports the move, and will continue to work with Huntersville and the county to improve the plan review and development permitting process.
