City Looking for Input on Planning Director Search

The City of Charlotte is looking for input from the real estate and development community on its ongoing search for a new Planning Director. The joint Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Department is currently being managed by Interim Director Ed McKinney, since former director Debra Campbell was promoted to an Assistant City Manager post last September.

The City has retained executive search firm Waters and Company to oversee a nationwide search process, and is now seeking input on the ideal characteristics the new planning director should possess. This input is being collected through both an online survey of industry and community stakeholders, as well as through a series of focus groups of development community representatives, neighborhood leaders, elected officials and planning staff.

Below is the link to a brief online survey regarding the ideal characteristics of the new Planning Director.  Survey comments are anonymous and confidential.  They will be provided directly to Waters and Company through the online survey link below.  Waters and Company will then aggregate the responses and provide them to the City.  Your responses will be used in compiling the candidate profile with final approval by the City Council, with the final selection of the candidate being made by City Manager Ron Carlee.  The process is anticipated to be completed by late April, early May 2015.

The survey will remain open until January 23, 2015.
