City Council to Revisit Zoning & Land Development Fees Next Week

City Council’s Economic Development Committee will discuss possible changes to its Land Development user fee policy when it next meets at noon on Thursday, January 21st.  The meeting will take place in Room CH-14 of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm., and is open to the public.

The City’s FY 2016 budget, adopted last summer, included hikes in regulatory fees for the development industry — although at lower levels than initially proposed by the Manager’s Office. The City would like to move toward a policy of ‘full cost recovery’ on land development and rezoning fees, but agreed to do so gradually after REBIC voiced concerns with the proposal.

REBIC is meeting next week with Councilman James Mitchell, who chairs the Economic Development Committee, to discuss the fee increases proposed for the FY 2017 budget.
