Members of the Charlotte Regional REALTOR® Association met last week with U.S. Senator-elect Thom Tillis to discuss some of the key issues he and his fellow senators will be addressing during the upcoming session of Congress. They also presented the former North Carolina House Speaker with a $5,000 RPAC check to help with the reduction of his campaign debt.
During the casual, hourlong conversation in Cornelius, Tillis shared his thoughts on tax reform, energy policy and the prospects for the new Republican majority to work with President Obama in a bipartisan manner to pass legislation that moves the American economy forward. He said he was confident that bills extending Terrorism Risk Insurance, approving the Keystone XL Pipeline and reining in regulatory excesses of the EPA would be on the Senate’s front burner in the weeks ahead.
Tillis will be sworn in for his six-year term along with other incoming senators at a ceremony at the United States Capitol on Tuesday, January 6th.
North Carolina Realtors® will meet again with Senator Tillis this Spring in Washington, D.C., during the 2015 NAR Legislative Conference and Trade Expo, May 11th through 16th.
