Charlotte REALTORS & Commercial Brokers Visit Raleigh to Advocate for Industry Issues

Charlotte Realtors® and Commercial Brokers visit the floor of the North Carolina Senate with Senator Jeff Tarte

More than 30 members of the Charlotte Regional REALTOR® Association (CRRA) and the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of REALTORS® (CRBR) visited Raleigh last week to meet with state legislators and advocate for real estate industry priorities during NCAR’s annual Legislative Meetings.

Charlotte Realtors® and commercial brokers meet with State Representative Tricia Cotham

Following a Legislative Rally and Issues Briefing, the group met with State Senator Jeff Tarte, who escorted us into the Senate Chambers to discuss issues ranging from protection of the state’s Housing Trust Fund to the Historic Preservation Tax Credit. Realtors® also talked about the need to prevent a proposed expansion of the real estate license exemption to include employees of limited liability partnerships, sole proprietorships and closely held companies.

During the course of the two-day conference, Realtors® and commercial brokers also met with a number other Mecklenburg County legislators, including Representatives Bill Brawley, Tricia Cotham and Charles Jeter, and Senators Jeff Jackson and Joel Ford. With one of the best member turnouts in years, we made sure our legislators understood the impact of the real estate industry on North Carolina’s economy, and of the need to preserve policies that promote homeownership and commercial property investment.
