REBIC (Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition) exists to take action on regulatory issues of concern for the region’s residential and commercial real estate industries by engaging in collaborative dialogs with policy makers, planners, and community thought leaders to promote better economic outcomes across the region. Our broad-based approach brings solutions into view by embedding member-knowledge and solid data into the apex of Regional future-planning. Our voice of power and purpose insists on respecting property owner rights, inserting oversight into policy adoption and implementation, and promoting common sense narratives within all debates.
The majority members of REBIC are the Canopy REALTOR® Association and Home Builders Association of Greater Charlotte. The organization also includes representation from several leading and highly influential development firms as well as the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of REALTORS®, NAIOP Charlotte | Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association.
Through the dynamic efforts of REBIC leadership and their representatives, employing the principles published in our REBIC creed, we commit to positively exert our rightful influence when formally engaged with local officials as they participate in the conceptualizing and implementation of laws and regulations that measurably affect the fiscal health of our regional real estate industry and the overall prosperity of our region.
We have been negotiating public policy issues on behalf of our members since the early 1980s, successfully resolving and encouraging the positive outcome of these areas of concern. Officially formed in 1987 to create a united voice to defend the industry’s rights in the face of constantly changing and often un-checked state and federal laws, regulations, ordinances and guidelines, and other public policy challenges, REBIC seeks to create the momentum needed to sustain a broadly beneficial and healthy real estate industry.
