    2.  City of Charlotte Seeking Members for UDO Advisory Committee (UAC)

Prior to the development, consideration, and ultimate adoption of the 2040 Plan and Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), a group known as the Ordinance Advisory Committee (OAC) was established to provide input throughout the process.  I joined several other REBIC members in serving on that body which was disbanded following UDO passage several months ago.  Planning Staff is now seeking applicants for what will be known as the UDO Advisory Committee.  Details follow.

1)  CLT Councilman Ed Driggs, Waxhaw Mayor Ron Pappas Join our Podcast to Talk Transportation

Politics are often associated with waiting for things to get done.  But when you’re interviewing two individuals with decades of experience bringing facts and people together, a lot of “done” starts happening.

Our first episode of 2023 features powerhouse duo Ron Pappas and Ed Driggs.  Pappas, mayor of Waxhaw, NC, 30-year veteran of home building, and Chair of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO), and Driggs, Charlotte City Council Member, Chair of the Transportation, Planning, and Development, and economist, are passionate about helping all real estate stakeholder groups understand and interpret the interdependency of economic success and properly planned development.

We invite you to listen to them share insight on these topics while they emphasize the importance Charlotte plays in the overall health of the state, as they boldly encourage the REBIC membership to get educated, get connected, and get involved.

2) City of Charlotte Seeking Members for UDO Advisory Committee (UAC)

As a reminder, the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) was adopted by City Council in August of 2022 and goes into effect on June 1, 2023.  As has been mentioned earlier in this space, there are “clean-up” items in the ordinance that need to be addressed along with other policy matters that need further attention.  We want to further inform you that a text amendment is currently being drafted that will seek to fix some of the technical issues prior to the effective date of the measure, and additional consideration is being granted to the development of one or more amendments that may have more significant policy implications.

The UAC would provide guidance to Staff and Council as these matters move through the process.  As such, it is crucial there be adequate representation from those who regularly participate in and have a broad understanding of the development and land use process.  Yes, that’s you!  If you live within the City of Charlotte or Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ), please consider submitting an application below.
