Charisma Southerland, Realtor®/Broker Howard Hanna | Allen Tate Real Estate, is a trusted voice in the Charlotte real estate community, bringing more than two decades of expertise, visionary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to her clients, her industry, and her city. A proud alumna of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charisma first came to Charlotte to attend Johnson C. Smith University and never looked back — falling in love with a city she has since helped shape.
With over 20 years as a licensed Realtor®/Broker in both North and South Carolina, Charisma has built a reputation for excellence at Howard Hanna | Allen Tate Real Estate. Her deep knowledge of the Charlotte market, combined with a client-first philosophy, has made her a trusted advisor to buyers and sellers alike. She is guided by a core belief: “Homeownership is one of the most powerful wealth-building tools available to families. My job is not just to close a transaction; it is to open a door to financial legacy that can be passed down for generations.”
Charisma’s professional foundation is uniquely broad. Before earning her real estate license, she built her analytical acumen working in the banking industry as a business analyst and project manager. She is also a licensed general contractor in North Carolina — a rare distinction that has allowed her to lead major home renovations with a hands-on approach to development and a keen eye for interior and exterior design. Her commitment to continuing education has earned her an impressive portfolio of designations, including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (SFR), and At Home with Diversity (AHWD), and she is a graduate of Canopy’s Leadership Academy (2003). She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
A natural leader, Charisma has been a driving force within the Canopy Realtor® Association and Canopy MLS, where she served as President for both 2024 and 2025. In that role, she worked in close partnership with the Executive Committee to strategically advance initiatives across the Canopy Association, Canopy MLS, and Canopy Housing Foundation. Her service to the Association spans nearly two decades, highlighted by her tenure on the Executive Committee (2020–2026), the Canopy MLS Board of Directors (2017), the Canopy Realtor® Association Board of Directors (2020–2021), the NC Realtors® Board of Directors (2004, 2021, 2026), and the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Board of Directors (2021–2026). In 2026, she continues her leadership journey as a member of the Executive Board for REBIC.
Beyond the boardroom, Charisma is deeply rooted in servant-leadership and community impact as she serves on various boards and actively contributes to her community. Charisma Southerland is more than a real estate professional — she is a community builder, a mentor, and a champion for the people and places she serves.
